LSD, colloquially known as ACID, is a hallucinogenic drug that was first synthesized in 1938 by Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann. It is commonly used recreationally and has been associated with the counterculture of the 1960s. LSD is known for its psychedelic effects, which can include altered thinking processes, closed and open eye visuals, synesthesia, an altered sense of time and spiritual experiences.
