Erich Segal was an American author, screenwriter, and educator best known for his novel Love Story, which was adapted into a popular film of the same name. He also wrote the screenplay for the movie, which was released in 1970 and starred Ryan O'Neal and Ali MacGraw. Segal was a professor of Latin literature at Yale University and wrote several other novels, including Man, Woman and Child and Oliver's Story.
