Louisiana French, also known as CAJUN (5 letters), is a dialect of the French language that is spoken in the U.S. state of Louisiana. It is a combination of 18th century French dialects brought to the region by Acadian exiles from Canada and the Caribbean, as well as Spanish, African, and Native American influences. Louisiana French is still spoken today by many people in the state, particularly in rural areas.
