NYLON stockings are made from a synthetic material that is lightweight and durable. SHEER stockings are made from a very thin fabric, often with a glossy finish. Seamed stockings have a seam running up the back of the leg, usually for added support. Fishnet stockings are made from a MESH-like fabric with larger holes than meshy stockings. Toeless stockings are designed to be worn without shoes, usually with sandals or open-toed shoes. MESH stockings are similar to fishnet stockings but with smaller holes. Seamless stockings are designed to be smooth and free of seams. Thighhigh stockings are designed to reach up to the thigh, usually with an elastic band at the top.
