Elmore Leonard was an American novelist, short story writer, and screenwriter. He wrote westerns and crime fiction, and his work has been adapted into many feature films. He is best known for his novels such as 'Get Shorty' and 'Out of Sight'. He was also the author of the popular '3:10 to Yuma' and 'HOMBRE'. Leonard was awarded the National Book Foundation's Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters in 2012.
