Leap on skates is a figure skating move that involves taking off from the ice and spinning in the air before landing back on the ice. The move is also known as an axel, which is a four-letter word that can be used to solve the crossword puzzle. An axel is a jump in figure skating where the skater takes off from a forward outside edge of one foot and rotates in the air up to three and a half times before landing on the same backward outside edge of the other foot. It is considered one of the most difficult jumps in figure skating and is named after its inventor, Axel Paulsen.
