The Law of Hollywood, also known as the Hollywood Ten, is a set of rules that were established in 1947 by the House Un-American Activities Committee. The law was created to prevent people from working in the film industry if they had any ties to communism. The term 'JUDE' is an acronym for the names of the ten people who were blacklisted under this law: John Howard Lawson, Dalton Trumbo, Alvah Bessie, Herbert Biberman, Edward Dmytryk, Ring Lardner Jr., Samuel Ornitz, Adrian Scott, Lester Cole, and Albert Maltz.
