The SAMI people, also known as Laplanders, are an indigenous people of northern Europe inhabiting the Arctic area of Sápmi, which today encompasses parts of northern Sweden, Norway, Finland, and the Kola Peninsula of Russia. They are known for their traditional lifestyle, which includes reindeer herding, fishing, and hunting. The SAMI language is the official language of Norway, Sweden, and Finland, and is spoken by approximately 20, 000 people.
