The Lapplander, also known as the SAMI, are an indigenous people of northern Europe inhabiting the Arctic area of Sápmi, which today encompasses parts of far northern Norway, Sweden, Finland, and the Kola Peninsula of Russia. They are known for their unique culture, language, and traditional lifestyle. The SAMI have traditionally been semi-nomadic reindeer herders, but many now live in permanent settlements. They are also renowned for their handicrafts, music, and art.
