Elsa Lanchester was an English-American actress, singer, and dancer who was active in the film industry from the 1920s to the 1970s. She is best known for her roles in Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and The Ghost of Frankenstein (1942). She also appeared in many other films, including Witness for the Prosecution (1957) and Mary Poppins (1964). Her career spanned five decades and she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Witness for the Prosecution.
