Cesar Chavez was a labor leader and civil rights activist who fought for the rights of migrant farm workers in the United States. He was the founder of the National Farm Workers Association, which later became the United Farm Workers union. Chavez was a major figure in the American labor movement and is remembered for his dedication to nonviolent protest and civil disobedience. He was also a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
