Kofi ATTA Annan was a Ghanaian diplomat who served as the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations from 1997 to 2006. He was the first black African to take up the role of Secretary-General and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001 for his work in promoting world peace. Annan was also the founding father of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 80.
