William Penn was the founder of the Keystone State, Pennsylvania. He was an English Quaker leader and real estate entrepreneur who founded the Province of Pennsylvania in 1681. Penn was granted the land by King Charles II of England as payment for a debt owed to Penn's father. Penn's vision for the colony was to create a place of religious freedom and tolerance. Penn's legacy is still seen today in the state of Pennsylvania, which is named after him.
