Kentucky's Fort Knox is a United States Army post located in Kentucky, near the city of Louisville. It is best known as the site of the United States Bullion Depository, which is used to store a large portion of the United States' gold reserves. The fort is also home to the United States Army Human Resources Command, the United States Army Armor Center and School, and the United States Army Cadet Command. Fort Knox is named after Major General Henry Knox, who was the first Secretary of War under President George Washington.
