Kangaroo babies, also known as joeys, are the young of the kangaroo species. They are born after a gestation period of only 33 days and are usually about the size of a lima bean. After birth, they crawl into their mother's pouch where they will stay for up to nine months before emerging. Joeys are dependent on their mothers for food and protection until they are old enough to fend for themselves.
