Gus Kahn was a German-born American songwriter and lyricist who wrote many popular songs for Broadway musicals and films. He is best known for his collaborations with composers such as George Gershwin, Walter Donaldson, and Isham Jones. He wrote the lyrics for some of the most famous songs of the 20th century, including 'It Had to Be You, ' 'Makin' Whoopee, ' and 'Dream a Little Dream of Me.' He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970.
