Elena Kagan is an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. She was nominated by President Barack Obama in 2010 and confirmed by the Senate in August of that year. Kagan is the fourth woman to serve on the Supreme Court and the first Jewish woman to do so. She previously served as the first female Solicitor General of the United States and as a professor at Harvard Law School. Kagan has been praised for her legal acumen and her commitment to civil rights.
