The Jupiter Probe is a space mission that was launched in 1977 by NASA. It was part of the VOYAGER program, which sent two robotic probes, VOYAGER 1 and VOYAGER 2, to explore the outer Solar System and beyond. The probes were designed to take advantage of a rare alignment of the outer planets that allowed them to use gravitational assists to travel to their destinations. The Jupiter Probe was the first of the two probes to reach its destination, arriving at Jupiter in 1979. It conducted a detailed study of the planet's atmosphere, magnetic field, and moons, and sent back the first close-up images of Jupiter and its moons.
