JR., formerly known as John Robert, is a former American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was a two-time NBA All-Star and won an NBA championship with the Chicago Bulls in 1998. He was also a member of the United States men's national basketball team that won gold medals at the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics. JR. was known for his defensive prowess and was selected to the NBA All-Defensive First Team four times. He retired from the NBA in 2003 after a 14-year career. The acronym SOPH stands for 'Senior On Probation Honorable, ' which was a nickname given to JR. by his teammates during his time with the Bulls.
