Jousting contests, also known as tilts, are a form of competition in which two mounted knights charge at each other with lances in an attempt to knock the other off their horse. The contests were popular during the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods, and were often held as part of tournaments or festivals. Jousting contests were seen as a way to test the skill and courage of the knights, and the winner was usually awarded a prize.
