Ted Koppel is an American journalist and news anchor who is best known for his 25-year tenure as the host of the ABC News Nightline program. He has also worked as a political commentator, author, and radio host. Koppel began his career in journalism in 1963, when he joined the BBC as a reporter. He then moved to ABC News in 1968, where he worked as a correspondent and anchor for various programs. In 1980, he became the host of Nightline, which he held until 2005. During his time at Nightline, Koppel won numerous awards, including 19 Emmy Awards and the George Foster Peabody Award.
