Journalist Hume was a British journalist, author and broadcaster. He was born in London in 1929 and worked for the BBC for over 30 years. He wrote for The Times, The Guardian, The Observer and The Spectator. He was also a regular contributor to the New Statesman and the Financial Times. He was known for his incisive and witty writing style. He was awarded an OBE in 1994 for services to journalism.
