Nat Hentoff was an American journalist, author, music critic, and commentator on civil liberties. He wrote for a variety of publications, including The Village Voice, The New Yorker, Down Beat, Jazz Times, and The Wall Street Journal. He was also the author of several books, including Jazz Country, The Nat Hentoff Reader, and Free Speech for Me—But Not for Thee. Hentoff was known for his strong commitment to civil liberties and freedom of expression.
