John of Scotland, also known as John Balliol, was a Scottish king who reigned from 1292 to 1296. He was the son of John de Balliol and Dervorguilla of Galloway, and was chosen by Edward I of England to succeed Margaret, Maid of Norway, as the King of Scotland. He is remembered for his unsuccessful attempt to resist Edward's demands for homage and military service. He was eventually deposed by Edward in 1296 and died in 1313.
