John of Plymouth was an English Separatist leader who was instrumental in the founding of the Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts. He was a signatory of the Mayflower Compact, which established the colony's government, and served as its governor for more than 30 years. He was also a religious leader, and his writings were influential in the development of Puritan theology. ALDEN was one of the original settlers of the Plymouth Colony, and he was a close friend of John of Plymouth.
