Jazzy COUNT is a nickname for the American jazz musician William 'COUNT' Basie (1904-1984). He was a pianist, organist, composer, and bandleader of the COUNT Basie Orchestra. He was known for his distinctive style of swing music and his use of blues and jazz elements. He was also a major influence on other jazz musicians. He won nine Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame in 1984.
