The Japanese Assembly, also known as the DIET, is the national legislature of Japan. It is a bicameral legislature composed of a lower house, the House of Representatives, and an upper house, the House of Councillors. The DIET is responsible for enacting laws, approving the national budget, and ratifying treaties. It is also the sole organ of the Japanese government that has the power to initiate legislation.
