Jane EYRE is the protagonist of Charlotte Bronte's novel Jane EYRE. She is a young woman who is orphaned and sent to live with her aunt, Mrs. Reed, at Gateshead Hall. After being mistreated by her aunt, Jane is sent to Lowood School, where she eventually becomes a teacher. Jane then takes a job as a governess at Thornfield Hall, where she meets the mysterious Mr. Rochester. Jane and Rochester eventually fall in love, but their relationship is complicated by a dark secret. Jane of Thornfield Hall is the name given to Jane EYRE in the novel.
