Jack London Captain is a term used to refer to the captain of the schooner, the 'Sophie Sutherland', captained by Larsen. Larsen was a Norwegian-American sea captain who sailed the vessel from San Francisco to Alaska in 1897. He was hired by Jack London, an American novelist and journalist, to take him on a voyage to the Klondike gold fields. The voyage was documented by London in his book, 'The Sea Wolf'.
