Italian poet Torquato Tasso (5 letters) was an Italian poet of the 16th century, best known for his poem 'Gerusalemme Liberata' (Jerusalem Delivered). He is considered one of the greatest poets of the Italian language and a major figure in the European literary tradition. He was also a courtier and a soldier, and was renowned for his skill in rhetoric and poetics. He was born in Sorrento, Italy in 1544 and died in Rome in 1595.
