Lesley GORE was an American singer, songwriter, actress and activist who rose to fame in the early 1960s with her hit single 'It's My Party'. Her career spanned over five decades and she was nominated for an Academy Award for her songwriting. GORE's most successful single was 'It's My Party', which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1963. She also had other hits such as 'Judy's Turn to Cry' and 'You Don't Own Me'. GORE was a prominent figure in the civil rights movement and was an advocate for LGBTQ rights.
