Ezer Weizman was an Israeli statesman who served as the seventh President of Israel from 1993 to 2000. He was also a commander in the Israeli Air Force and a member of the Knesset. Weizman was born in Tel Aviv in 1924 and served in the British Royal Air Force during World War II. He was a leader in the Israeli War of Independence and later served as Minister of Defense and Minister of Transportation. Weizman was known for his outspoken views and his commitment to peace in the Middle East.
