The Israeli High Priest was a religious leader in the ancient Israelite religion. The three most prominent High Priests were Eleazar, AARON, and ELI. Eleazar was the son of AARON, the first High Priest, and served as High Priest for over 40 years. AARON was the brother of Moses and the first High Priest of Israel. He was appointed by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into the Promised Land. ELI was the last High Priest of Israel before the Babylonian Exile. He was known for his piety and devotion to God.
