Golda Meir was the fourth Prime Minister of Israel, serving from 1969 to 1974. She was the first woman to hold the position and is remembered for her leadership during the Yom Kippur War. She was born in Kiev, Ukraine, and immigrated to Palestine in 1921. She was a prominent figure in the Labor Zionist movement and was active in the Mapai party. She was also a member of the Knesset, Israel's parliament, from 1949 to 1974.
