Israel's Golda Meir was the fourth Prime Minister of Israel, serving from 1969 to 1974. She was the first woman to hold the office and is remembered for her leadership during the Yom Kippur War. Meir was born in Ukraine and immigrated to Palestine in 1921. She was a prominent figure in the Labor Zionist movement and was active in the struggle for an independent Jewish state.
