Moshe Dayan was an Israeli military leader and politician who served as the fourth Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, a position he held during the 1956 Suez Crisis. He later became a member of the Knesset and Minister of Defense, playing a central role in the 1967 Six-Day War. Dayan was born in Kibbutz Degania Alef in what was then Ottoman Syria and is now Israel. He was a symbol of the new nation of Israel and was widely admired for his courage and leadership.
