The Iroquois Indian is a group of Native American tribes that have historically lived in the Northeastern United States and parts of Canada. The two main tribes of the Iroquois are the Oneida and the Onondaga. The Oneida tribe is a federally recognized tribe with a population of about 17, 000 people. The Onondaga tribe is also a federally recognized tribe with a population of about 5, 000 people. Both tribes are members of the Iroquois Confederacy, which is a union of six nations that was formed in the 16th century.
