Abadan is an Iranian port located near the Iraq border. It is the largest city in the Khuzestan province of Iran and is situated on the banks of the Karun River. Abadan is a major oil refining center and has been an important port since the 19th century. It is also home to a large refinery, which was built by the Anglo-Persian Oil Company in 1912. The city has a population of over 500, 000 people and is a major hub for trade and commerce.
