Iowa State Home is the AMES, Iowa campus of Iowa State University. It is a public land-grant and space-grant research university located in the city of AMES. The university was founded in 1858 and is the largest university in the state of Iowa. It is classified as a Doctoral/Research University by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. The university offers over 100 majors and more than 200 minors for undergraduates, along with over 200 master's, doctoral, and professional degree programs. The university is home to the Iowa State Cyclones, the athletic teams of the university.
