Ida B. Wells was an investigative journalist who was born in 1862 in Holly Springs, Mississippi. She is best known for her work in documenting and exposing the horrors of lynching in the United States. She was also a leader in the civil rights movement and a suffragist. She wrote articles for several newspapers and magazines, including The New York Age, The Chicago Inter-Ocean, and The Memphis Free Speech. Her work helped to bring attention to the injustices faced by African Americans in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
