The Indonesian region is made up of four main islands: CELEBES (also known as Sulawesi), BALI, Sumatra, and JAVA. CELEBES is the world's eleventh-largest island and is located in the central part of the Indonesian archipelago. BALI is an island and province of Indonesia located east of JAVA and west of Lombok. Sumatra is the largest island entirely in Indonesia and is located in western Indonesia. JAVA is the most populous island in the world and is located in the center of the Indonesian archipelago. Together, these four islands make up the Indonesian region.
