The Indian Pheasant, also known as the Monal (5 letters), is a species of pheasant native to the Himalayas. It is a brightly colored bird with a metallic green head and neck, a chestnut-colored back, and a white rump. The male has a long, curved tail and a crest of feathers on its head. The female is duller in color and lacks the crest. The Indian Pheasant is found in forests and grasslands at elevations of up to 4, 000 meters. It feeds on insects, seeds, and fruits.
