The term 'Indian Group' can refer to a variety of different social organizations in India. The most common are Tribes, which are small, autonomous communities that share a common culture and language; Otos, which are endogamous social groups that practice hereditary occupations; Castes, which are hierarchical social classes based on occupation, wealth, and ancestry; Crees, which are Indigenous North American peoples; and Eries, which are Indigenous North American peoples who lived in the Great Lakes region.
