Indian Chiefs, also known as Sachems and Rajas, were leaders of Native American tribes. They were responsible for making decisions on behalf of their people, such as determining hunting grounds and settling disputes. Sachems were the highest-ranking chiefs in the Northeast, while Rajas were the highest-ranking chiefs in the Southeast. Both titles were respected and held great power within their respective tribes.
