The region of India known as Assam is located in the northeastern part of the country. It is bordered by Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar, and is home to the Brahmaputra River. Assam is known for its tea production, and is also a major producer of oil and natural gas. The state is home to many different ethnic groups, including the Assamese, Bodo, and Karbi people. Assam is also home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Kaziranga National Park and Manas Wildlife Sanctuary.
