Icarus was the son of the famous craftsman Daedalus, who had been tasked with creating the Labyrinth for King Minos of Crete. Daedalus created wings for himself and his son out of feathers and wax so that they could escape the Labyrinth. However, Icarus flew too close to the sun, causing the wax to melt and his wings to fall apart, leading to his death.
