The Salchow is a figure skating jump named after its inventor, Swedish figure skater Ulrich Salchow. It is one of the six triple jumps recognized by the International Skating Union and is performed by taking off from the back inside edge of one foot and landing on the back outside edge of the opposite foot. The Salchow is an essential element of ice skating triple jumps and is often included in competitive programs.
