The term ICE SKATING MOVE is composed of two words, AXEL being the first. Axel is a figure skating jump that requires the skater to take off from the back outside edge of one foot, make one and a half turns in the air, and land on the back outside edge of the opposite foot. It is considered one of the most difficult jumps in figure skating and is named after the 19th-century Swedish figure skater Axel Paulson.
