Sir Georg Solti, born in Budapest, Hungary, was a world-renowned conductor and composer. He was the music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for 22 years and was the first conductor to win 31 Grammy Awards. Sir Antal Dorati was also a Hungarian-born conductor and composer. He was the music director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, and he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary. Finally, Fritz Reiner was a Hungarian-born conductor and composer who was the music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 1953 to 1962. He was known for his interpretations of the works of Richard Strauss, Johannes Brahms, and Gustav Mahler.
