House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is an American politician who has served as the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives since January 2019. She is the first woman to hold the position and is the highest-ranking female elected official in United States history. Pelosi has represented California's 12th congressional district since 2013. Prior to that, she served as the House Minority Leader from 2003 to 2007 and as House Speaker from 2007 to 2011. Pelosi is a member of the Democratic Party and is known for her progressive stances on social issues.
